 Activities:-

A. Functions / Duties of the Directorate:

  1.    Collection, dissemination, scrutiny and compilation of statistical data pertaining to variuos socio-economic parameters of the State for bringing out regular Publications and Census Reports.

  2.   Effective implementation and monitoring of the provisions of the Registration of Births and Deaths Act (Central Act) and State Rules therein along with susequent amendments from time to time.

  3.   Evluation of development programmes / schemes coering achievments, socio-economic impact, opertaions areas of success, failure and lacunae, analysis of the resules etc. as per Government decisions.

  4.   Conduct of Census and Surveys as per National / State guidelines and timelines as under: 
  i.  Quinquennial Agriculture Census and Input Survey 
  ii.  Quinquennial Minor Irrigation Census (*) 
  iii.  Quinquennial Census of Water Bodies (*) 
  iv.  Quinquennial Economic Census 
  v.  Census of Government Employees 
  vi.  Any other censuses / surveys as per Government decisions 
(*)  As per Cabinet decision, the Censuses at Sr.ii. and iii. are transferred to the State Water Resources Department with effect from December 2022

  5.   Lending hand-holding support to the Directorate of Census Operations, Office of the Registrar General of India, Regional Office Goa, to conduct and monitor the decennial Population Census.

  6.   Monitoring and review of scheme-wise financial progress/expenditure of all Government Departments.

  7.   Co-ordinating and liasoning with the NITI Aayog and the State Departments for framing the State Indicator Framwork (SIF) and monitoring the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) for the State.

  8.   Budget analysis and compilation of Estimates of State Domestic Product / State Income in consultation and collaboration with the Central Statistics Office, Ministry of Statistics and Program Implementation (MoSPI), Government of India and the State line Departments.

  9.   Implementation and monitoring of the Unique Identification (UID) / Aadhaar Project in the State. The Directorate also functions as an Aadhaar Center for attending the grievance cases of the public.

  10.   Co-ordinating with the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) Mission, Cabinet Secretariat, New Delhi and the DBT implementation State Departments for monitoring of reporting of DBT schemes implemented by the State Government on the State DBT portal.

  11.   Conduct of National Sample Surveys (NSS) in the State on par with those implemented by the Central Government under their direction for uniformity system.

  12.   Conduct of Annual Survey of Industries (ASI) based on information gathered from selected industries and computation of Index of Industrial Productions(IIP) as per the direction of NSSO, Kolkata.

  13.   Computation of Consumer Price Index for middle class non-mannual employees based on data collected on retail prices and supply of retail price data from selected markets in Goa to Labour Bureau, Chandigarh for computation of Consumer Price Index for Industrial Workers.

  14.   Computation of tables related to average wholesale / retail price of some important commodities sonsumed by middle class people in important towns in the State of Goa.

  15.   As the co-odinating Department of Goa Corporate Scocial Responsibility Authority, ensuring that CSR funds received from the corporate entities by the Goa CSR Authority, in a single corpus funds are utilized for the betterment of all sections of the society across the State.

  16.   Monitoring the implementation of Public Finance Management System (PFMS) in Goa, for funds released under Centrally Sponsored Scheme.
